이재명 대통령, 인도 외교장관 접견 관련 이규연 홍보소통수석 서면브리핑

이재명 대통령은 오늘(현지시간 4.19. 일) 인도 국빈 방문 중 수브라마냠  자이샨카르(Subramanyam Jaishankar) 인도 외교장관을 접견해 한-인도 관계 발전 방향과 양국 협력 확대 방안에 대해 의견을 교환하였습니다.

이번 접견은 인도를 방문한 외국 정상이 정상회담에 앞서 외교장관을 접견하는 인도 국빈 방문 관례에 따라 이루어졌습니다.

이 대통령은 대한민국 대통령으로서 8년 만에 인도를 국빈 방문하게 된 것을 기쁘게 생각한다며, 이번 방문을 통해 한-인도 ‘특별 전략적 동반자 관계’를 전방위적으로 강화하고 호혜적 전략적 협력을 확대해 나가고자 한다고 밝혔습니다. 또한 양국 간 협력 잠재력을 감안할 때 아직 양국 교역 규모나 우리 진출 기업 수 등이 확대될 여지가 많으며, 이러한 잠재력을 현실화해 나가기 위해 앞으로 더욱 노력을 기울여 나갈 필요가 있다고 강조했습니다. 아울러 방문 준비에 힘써 준 자이샨카르 장관의 노고에 사의를 표했습니다.

자이샨카르 장관은 이 대통령에 대한 드러우파디 무르무 대통령과 나렌드라 모디 총리의 환영 인사를 전했습니다. 이어 중동전쟁 등 불안정한 국제정세가 장기화되는 가운데 이 위기를 한-인도 관계를 더욱 공고히 해 나가는 기회로 삼고자 하며, 인도 정부는 한국 기업들이 인도에 더욱 많이 진출할 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다고 했습니다.  또한 다음날 예정된 한-인도 정상회담이 성공적으로 개최될 수 있도록 최선을 다할 것이며, 후속 조치 이행에도 적극 협력하겠다고 말했습니다

Written briefing by Senior Secretary for Public Relations and Communication Lee Kyu-yeon regarding President Lee Jae-myung's meeting with the Indian Foreign Minister

President Lee Jae-myung met with Indian Foreign Minister Subramanyam Jaishankar today (local time, April 19) during his state visit to India and exchanged views on the direction of development of Korea-India relations and ways to expand cooperation between the two countries.

This meeting took place in accordance with the custom of state visits to India, where visiting foreign heads of state receive the Foreign Minister prior to a summit.

 President Lee expressed his pleasure at making a state visit to India for the first time in eight years as the President of the Republic of Korea, stating that through this visit, he intends to comprehensively strengthen the "special strategic partnership" between Korea and India and expand mutually beneficial strategic cooperation. He also emphasized that given the potential for cooperation between the two countries, there is still significant room for expansion in terms of trade volume and the number of Korean companies operating there, and that further efforts are needed to realize this potential. In addition, he expressed his gratitude to Minister Jaishankar for his hard work in preparing for the visit.

Minister Jaishankar conveyed the welcoming greetings of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to President Lee. He further stated that amidst the prolonged unstable international situation, including the Middle East war, the government intends to use this crisis as an opportunity to further solidify Korea-India relations, and pledged the Indian government's active support for Korean companies to expand their presence in India. He also expressed his commitment to doing his utmost to ensure the successful hosting of the Korea-India summit scheduled for the following day and to actively cooperate in the implementation of follow-up measures.
